Western Digital External Hard Drive is pretty much the easiest way to expand a computer to an unheard-of realm of hard drive space. It adds one terabyte of memory. When we stop and consider that a gigabyte is a billion bytes, we come to realize that a terabyte is actually 1,000 tims more than that - a trillion bytes of memory. There were times not that long ago, actually, when a terabyte could run hundreds of computers. Now, for what appears to be a scandalously low price, we can get humongous at our own home base.
The most pleasing feature of all may be the simplicty of the device. Installation pretty much requires a USB port, a place to plug in the horizontal transformer and - well - that's it. It requires no CD for downlioading and just attaches itself to the system seamlessly as an additional piece of hardware.
It is about the size of a book and it actually looks rather attractive. In the end, what it offers, perhaps more than anything else, is a place for backup files and storgae. It can hold 285,000 digital photos, 250,000 MP3 songs, up to 76 hours of digital video, or 440 hours of DVD quality videos. Obviously, it adds a level of memory than can literally transform a computer.
